How does the Lawyer Referral Service work? If you need an attorney the number to call is 724-728-4888, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and one of the staff members will assist you. The caller will be asked their name, phone number and the general reason legal assistance is needed. The staff member will then attempt to contact a participating attorney who practices in the particular field of law where help is needed. Once an attorney is found, LRS will contact the caller with the name and phone number of the attorney. The person seeking legal assistance can then call the attorney to set up their own appointment.
Is there a fee for the attorney? There is a $25.00 fee that you pay the attorney at the time of your initial visit. This $25.00 entitles you to a thirty (30) minute consultation with the attorney. The fee for any further legal work is between you and the attorney. The Lawyer Referral Service is not involved in what the attorneys charge for their services or how they accept payment.
What if I cannot afford an attorney? If you cannot afford an attorney, Lawyer Referral Service will refer you to Neighborhood Legal Services, who may possibly provide you with a reduced fee attorney. Neighborhood Legal Services does not handle all issues and the caller needs to qualify for their services. Neighborhood Legal Services can be reached by calling 724-378-0595.
